About a year ago, one of the Instagram accounts I follow announced that they (a network of Moms resource websites) were looking to grow and, wouldn’t you know it, the Twin Cities was one of the areas they thought could use such a resource. As a mom, and someone who’d been a long-time nanny in the Twin Cities, I knew this was a resource the area could use. I also knew of one person that could make it happen with me, and thank goodness she said yes!
We started work immediately, meeting our amazing team in December, but waiting until January to launch. We’ve been overwhelmed by this growing community and when 90 women showed up for our launch party, battling Minneapolis street parking after 10 inches of snow fell, we knew this was going to be something special.
Our team has now grown to 19 women – different perspectives on all kinds of parenting topics, different voices to bring to the table and we couldn’t have more fun when we get together. We’re all different – working moms, stay-at-home moms, moms who vaccinate, moms who delay. Moms who breastfeed, moms who used formula. Some are sports moms, some just aren’t. We don’t all have to be the same to have a fabulous time together and we hope you feel the same!
Moms need to get out, Moms need to connect and Moms need to feel like they’re not alone. We hope that through Twin Cities Moms Blog you have found the chance to get out and take time for yourself, that you have felt connected to the greater community of moms in our fantastic metro area, and that you have read at least one thing that has helped you feel less lonely in this journey of Motherhood. Being a mom is tough and we hope to make it easier in some small way.
We have been so grateful to have not only watched our community come together in such a fun way, supporting and helping one another with positive attitudes of support and understanding, but to have grown our own new friendships throughout that time as well. Personally, I often have felt since becoming a mom that I don’t have time for new friendships. That life is just too busy already and how would I ever fit that in? I’m so happy to say that I couldn’t have been more wrong. Having met our amazing team of writers, my fab co-founder and meeting many, many other Twin Cities moms along the way, I’m so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone and that we gave this big journey a try.
Are you ready to make an impact on your local mom community? Are you ready to join a passionate network of moms?
While obviously Twin Cities is already established, we’re excited that City Moms Blog Network is now looking to grow nationally! With already having 35 sister sites in major cities across the country, we’d love to continue to expand our network and continue our mission by adding on new sister sites.
If you or someone you know might be interested in connecting moms in your community with us, jump at this opportunity to join CMBN with your own Sister Site by filling out our Start a Sister Site Information Form.
We are having tons of fun making a difference in our local mom community and would love to see moms in other areas have the chance to do the same!
