There’s always something to do in the Twin Cities! We’ve worked to help you keep your sanity by bringing these July activities all together in one easy guide so you don’t miss a thing! We’ll update with new additions as they come.

June 14-July 4: Manitou Days | Times Vary The fun kicks-off with Marketfest and ends on the Fourth of July with a spectacular fireworks display to music over the lake. The Medallion Hunt, a local favorite, offers a $1,000 prize and bragging rights. One of our festival highlights is the Grand Parade, which travels through the scenic downtown and along Lake Avenue, ending at Memorial Beach where WildCat Combo will perform at the Beach Dance following the parade. Ride your bike. Build a sand castle. Enter a fishing contest. Go for a pontoon ride. Shop Downtown White Bear Lake. Do yoga on the beach. Hunt for a medallion. Dance under the stars. Watch fireworks on the beach. With more than 60 events, there is something for everyone!

June 27-July 4: Apple Valley Freedom Days | Times Vary Check out the daily events leading up to the 4th of July! There will be a car show, fishing derby, fun run, golfing, patriotic pet contests, parade, music in the park, a carnival, and of course the city’s big fireworks show!

June 28-July 1: Hudson Booster Days | Times Vary Booster Days is the annual 4th of July Celebration held in Lakefront Park, near historic downtown Hudson, along the scenic St Croix River.  This event draws crowds from Hudson and surrounding counties, with activities for all ages such as a fishing contest, carnival rides, and multiple bands in the Hudson bandshell each night.

June 29-July 4: Forest Lake 4th of July | Times Vary Carnival, bingo, food, live music, parade, fireworks.

July 2-4: Chanhassen 4th of July Celebration | Times Vary Family night, pony rides, MN Twins youth baseball clinic, carnival games & rides, live music, parade, fireworks, and more!

July 2-4: Coon Rapids 4th of July Celebration | Times Vary Don’t miss the parade, carnival, car show, live music, bingo, and of course, fireworks!

July 2-4: Richfield Red White and Blue Days | Times Vary Richfield’s favorite days are back with a street dance, parade, car show, wreath laying, wrestling, and fireworks!

July 3: Summer Fete | 5:00pm Please join us for what has become the true “ringing in” of Independence Day in the Twin Cities: Bloomington’s Summer Fete, every year on July 3 at Normandale Lake Park. This year’s fun starts with a carnival, includes two entertainment stages – the Kid’s stage and the Main Stage – featuring a great lineup of performers, and as usual, culminates with a fantastic fireworks display just after dusk!

July 3-4: Anoka Independence Day Celebration  | Times Vary Fireworks, legion alumni baseball game, live music, celebrity kickball tournament, ice cream social.

July 3-4: Eagan’s July 4th Funfest  | Times Vary Carnival rides and games, bike parade, live music, card tournament, blood drive, huge parade and fireworks!

July 4: Afton 4th of July Parade | 12:30pm Celebrate the 4th of July with lots of fun for the whole family, including food, drinks, music, and trolley rides!

July 4: Blaine’s 4th of July Firework Show | 10:00pm The 4th of July Fireworks Show is held at the National Sports Center each year.  Approximate time of the fireworks is 10:00 pm. 

July 4: Farmer’s Fourth of July | 10:00am-5:00pm Celebrate the most important 19th-century holiday, the Fourth of July, with the Kelley Farm staff. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the front lawn while listening to rousing speeches. Play 19th- and 21st-century games and then sample ice cream in the Learning Kitchen.

July 4: Fourth of July Fireworks – Stillwater | 7:00pm The City of Stillwater puts on a huge fireworks display over the St. Croix river offering views from anywhere downtown and live music in Lowell Park and Pioneer Park. 

July 4: Independence Day Celebration | 10:00am-5:00pm Spend the United States’ birthday at Historic Fort Snelling and explore the history of freedom in 19th-century America. Discover how many Americans celebrated the holiday nearly two centuries ago, complete with cannon and musket salutes, military dress parades, fife and drum music, and much more.

July 4: Lakeville’s Fireworks | 4:30-10:30pm Tons of fun at Lakeville North High School, including great entertainment and a spectacular aerial fireworks display. Live music from 4:30 – 6:30PM by the 34th infantry division band Coverfire (Variety Band).  Last year’s hit band  IV Play LLC returns from 7:00 – 9:45PM with great classic rock. Additional entertainment includes inflatables, temporary tattoos, and a free photo booth plus concessions. Lawn chairs or blankets suggested to sit on the football practice field and surrounding areas. Fireworks at dusk.

July 4: Light it Up – Maplewood | 4:00-10:00pm Food trucks, live music, bean bag tournaments, family fun activities, inflatables, mascots, and fireworks.

July 4: Red, White and Boom | 6:00pm Celebrate America’s Independence Day at Minneapolis Red, White and Boom, a celebration hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The annual event attracts more than 75,000 people to sites along the downtown Minneapolis riverfront, and features live music, great food, fun activities for the whole family, and the grand finale – fireworks!

July 4: Rock and Rockets at Mystic Lake | 5:00-10:30pm It’s a star-spangled day of music, food, fun, and fireworks! Celebrate America’s birthday at our fun-filled festival featuring live music, popular local food trucks, fireworks and more! FREE admission.

July 4: Woodbury Hometown Celebration | 6:00-10:00pm Celebrate Independence Day at Woodbury’s Hometown Celebration. Kidzone and food start at 6 p.m. This year’s band will be FlashMob!, a Minneapolis-based group that covers a wide range of hits from the 1970’s through today. FlashMob! will hit the stage at 7 p.m. and perform until the traditional fireworks display at 10 p.m. 

July 4: Rosefest | 1:00-10:00pm Carnival activities, inflatables, puppet shows, food vendors, and live music.

July 4: Tangletown Parade and Festival | 10:00am-1:00pm Our annual tradition of the Tangletown 4th of July parade and celebration will be here before we know it! You don’t want to miss the fire truck-led parade, refreshments, carnival games, crafts, and live music. Bring your picnic blanket, decorate your bike or your pet, and join us July 4th for a Tangletown tradition.  

July 4: Ice Cream Social & Lawn Party | 6:00-8:00pm Beat the Fourth of July heat with root beer floats and lawn games at the James J. Hill House before watching the fireworks. Enjoy hands-on children’s activities, challenge yourself to find the mushroom cave, or lounge on the terrace taking in views of the Mississippi River and downtown St. Paul. In the event of rain, visitors can enjoy a film screening indoors.

July 4: July 4th Fireworks Celebration – Saint Louis Park | 7:00-10:00pm Concessions, live music, vendors, and fireworks.

July 4: Fourth of July Fireworks | 9:30-10:30pm Enjoy an unparalleled view of the 2018 Minneapolis Red White and Boom Fourth of July fireworks from the Mill City Museum’s Koch Observation Deck. Entrance to the Observation Deck begins at 9:30 pm; fireworks begin at 10 pm. Tickets also include same-day museum admission on July 4 between 10 am-5 pm.

July 4: 4th of July at Langford Park | 8:00am Kick things off with an early morning distance race. Enjoy the colorful parade and stake out a patch of grass to enjoy an afternoon of music, games, volleyball & horseshoe tournaments. There is something for everyone at the 4th in the Park! 

July 4: Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration | 8:00am-Dusk Firecracker Runs (1 mile, 5K & 10K), Sand Sculpture Contest at kids beach, Water Street Kids’ Parade and Popsicle Social, petting zoo, live music, fireworks over Lake Minnetonka

July 4: Prior Lake’s 4th of July Celebration | 1:00pm Annual boat parade at 1pm, and a fireworks display on Lower Prior Lake usually after 10 p.m.

July 4: City of Edina’s 4th of July Parade | 10:00am Parade and fireworks show.

July 4: Cottage Grove’s 4th of July Celebration | 5:00pm Starting at 5 pm there will be food, fun, and games at the Kingston pavilion. Many chances to win great kid and adult prizes. Bring a little money for a family picnic style meal of brats, hot dogs, and chips!! Ice cream and cheese curd truck vendors will be there as well. Fireworks show starting at 10:15 pm – you won’t want to miss it! Kid Sight Screening will also be available for free vision screenings from 5 to 8 pm at the pavilion.

July 4: 4th of July Hometown Celebration – Eden Prairie | 7:30am-11:30pm Pickleball tournament, 5K run, giant games, inflatables, food & drinks, bingo, karaoke, and more!

July 4-15: Lakeville Pan-O-Prog | Times Vary A week of fun for the whole family kicking off with fireworks, a carnival, parade, puppet show, bingo, food, and more!

July 5: Kid Power with Rachael  | 10:00-11:00am KidPower with Rachael has been a family favorite for more than 25 years – performing over 175 shows every year! KidPower is Minnesota’s only interactive music and educational animal show that puts an emphasis on kindness…KidPower is KindPower. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

July 6: Forever Wild Family Friday: Dragonflies | 7:00-8:30pm Head to Lebanon Hills for family fun on the first Friday of every month with outdoor park activities and s’mores. Discover the world of dragonflies, through all the stages of their life cycle. Dip net the lake and sweep net the prairies, learning to identify what you’ve found. All ages. FREE.

July 7: Home Depot Kids Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm Reel in the summer fun in our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a fishing game while tackling educational and developmental skills. Once your fishing game is built, you and your child can decorate it with paint and stickers. Recommended Ages: 5-12. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron, and pin. FREE.

July 12: Teddy Bear Band | 10:00-11:00am The music and fun of Teddy Bear Band is created with the intent for children to gain and maintain a positive sense of self and an appreciation of their own abilities. Participation and interaction are cornerstone concepts of the Teddy Bear Band’s musical shows. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

July 7-15: Hopkins Raspberry Festival | Times Vary The Hopkins Raspberry Festival has become a Twin Cities institution, held in the middle of July. The raspberry fields are long gone, but the town has cause to celebrate anyway, and so it does. Events include a soap box derby, puppy parade, big wheel race, inflatables, food trucks, live music, a parade, and fireworks.

July 8: Pirates and Mermaid Brunch | 9:30am-1:30pm Don’t miss Lord Fletcher’s Pirates & Mermaids Brunch! Come in costume (optional) and enjoy face painting, balloon artists and REAL Live Pirates and Mermaids. Fun for the whole family!

July 11-15: Waseca County Free Fair | Times Vary 

July 11-15: Maple Grove Days | Times Vary Five-day city festival hosting over 40 events for all ages; car show, art fair, races, business expo, parade, music. Fun for families; children’s run, kids parade, diaper derby, entertainment, outdoor movie. Inflatable rides and booths from local community organizations.

July 11-16: Ramsey County Fair | Times Vary A small town county fair in the middle of the big city! FREE admission.

July 11-18: Maple Grove Days | Times Vary Five days of festival fun for family and friends and the whole community. Medallion Hunt – Parades – Movie in the Dark – Competitions for All Ages – Ambassador Coronation – Teen Events – Bed Races – Business Expo – Inflatables – Non-Profit Opportunities – Puzzle Challenge – Fishing Clinic – Outdoor Zumba and Yoga – Silent Auction – Corn Feed – 2 Stages of Entertainment – Kiddie Games  – Fireworks.

July 13: Family & Friends Fun Day at Dakota City Heritage Village | Times Vary This summer, bring your kids, grandkids, and friends to visit the past and experience life at the turn of the last century on our Family & Friends Fun Day, offered one Friday in June and one in July. Stroll through the museum and see horse-drawn buggies and farm machinery from the good ol’ days. With your tour guide, visit selected buildings in the village and meet the villagers, who help the children with hands-on activities. Enjoy playing vintage games, watch the blacksmith at work in his forge or the woodworker in his shop, withdraw money at the bank to spend shopping at the General Store, and more. Bring your own lunch and have a picnic on our village grounds.

July 14: Twin Cities Bacon and Beer Classic | 12:00pm We’re back, Twin Cities, and better than ever! The Bacon and Beer Classic is taking over CHS Field on July 14th, 2018. Prepare yourself for 100+ beers from regional breweries, 30+ bacon dishes from local chefs, a blind beer taste test, the Hormel® bacon eating contest, lawn games, music, and some all-new surprises on the field.

July 14: Anoka Riverfest | 9:00am-5:00pm Anoka Riverfest is one of the Twin Cities largest craft fairs and so much more. Spend a great day in historic downtown Anoka browsing booths or enjoying free, live music, two food courts, family activities, and more. FREE.

July 14: TPT Family Fun Day | 10:00am-4:00pm Get ready for some big-time science fun at Second Saturdays this month. Sid the Science Kid will be here to lead us all in cool activities to observe and investigate the world around us! Come and learn about tools and measurements, your 5 senses and even how the weather works! The SciGirls will also be on hand teaching about light and shadow with a shadow puppet show.

July 14: Extreme Race Day at Canterbury Park | 12:45-5:00pm It’s going to be an absolute zoo at Canterbury Park for Extreme Race Day! This fun and exciting event returns Saturday, July 14 and features camel, ostrich and zebra races, along with several family-friendly activities. Tickets are on sale now.

July 14-15: Mendota Days | Times Vary Join us for fun activities, great food, music, and more! A great opportunity to learn about and celebrate the history of Mendota at a fun summer get-together. The parade starts at noon!

July 14-15: Air Expo | Times Vary Don’t miss your chance to see these heroes of the skies and their amazing airplanes!

July 14-15: Dragon Festival | 10am-5pm Dragon Festival is a two-day event that takes place at Lake Phalen in St. Paul, MN in July, celebrating the diversity and culture of Asia. FREE.

July 15: Enchanted Summer Celebration | Times Vary Experience the magic with the Enchanted Storybook Princesses as you enjoy games, dancing, singing, and more during this festive celebration! Each guest will enjoy a sweet creation, receive a special gift bag with princess treasures, and a signed photo from all the attending Enchanted Princesses!

July 15: Snow Sisters Summer Skating Party | 3:00-4:00p Need a break from the heat of July? Join the Snow Sisters and their snowman friend to cool down at a Summer Skating Party! Non-skating guests enjoy rink-side viewing of the Royal Skating Lesson and mini-performance, plus off-ice character interactions and photo opportunities. Those interested in skating with the Snow Sisters can participate in the Royal Skating Lesson, show off their favorite moves for royalty during exclusive ice time, plus enjoy on-and-off ice photo opportunities (inexperienced skaters must be accompanied by an adult).

July 17: Blaine Family Fun Night | 6:00-8:00pm Join the Blaine Parks and Recreation Department for Family Fun Night, an evening dedicated entirely to families. Children can enjoy FREE kiddie carnival games, explore a police car and a fire truck at our vehicle fair. Concessions will be available! We will also have multiple inflatables and some will get you wet! And don’t forget to bring your camera.

July 18-21: Minneapolis Aquatennial | Times Vary The Aquatennial is the official civic celebration of the City of Minneapolis, and it’s filled with lots of family fun including the largest nighttime parade in Minnesota!

July 19: Storytime with Island Princesses | 10:00-11:00am Join Pretty Awesome Appearances at Burnsville Center’s Play Area for a storytime with our favorite island princess! Free leis will be given to all children. (This event is FREE and includes free treats and coupons from a variety of Burnsville Center retailers). The event includes a meet & greet, photos, and storytime with the princess. 

July 19: Jack and Kitty: Vaudeville Jug Band Folk | 10:00-11:00am Jack and Kitty are high school sweethearts that play “Organic Vaudeville and Jug Band Folk” music. Kitty is the niece of reggae legend Bunny Wailer (of Bob Marley and the Wailers) and Jack’s babysitter was ukulele oddball Tiny Tim. The Emmy Award-winning vaudevillian songsters love to perform concerts nationwide, playing a wide variety of folk instruments including banjo, guitar, ukulele, washboard, jug, kazoo, harmonica, whizbang, rumba box and much more. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

July 19-22: Excelsior Crazy Days | Times Vary An annual three-day sidewalk sale event where local businesses and vendors offer great deals and products. Food trucks will be on site. Take a break and check out the live music and children’s entertainment featuring Airplane Annie.

July 20: Coin Carnival | 10:00am-2:00pm Head to the HealthEast Sports Center for fun and games at this year’s Coin Carnival. The day will include games and prizes, a bounce house, temporary tattoos, crazy hair, Puppet Wagon shows and lunch! Ages 2-12 with an adult.

July 20: Pop-Up Splash Pad | 5:00-7:00pm Beat the heat this summer by cooling down at a pop-up splash pad. The Shakopee Parks and Recreation and Fire departments will be popping up at neighborhood parks this summer. Attendees can run through the spray of a fire hose, toss a few water balloons and play fun water games.

July 20-21: Spirit of the Lakes Festival | Times Vary A two-day event with live music, a parade, an art festival, great food, fireworks, and entertainment for all ages, along with The 2018 Minnesota Wakesurf Championship! Most events are located at Surfside Park & Beach along the shores of Lake Minnetonka in Mound.

July 20-21: Minnesota Scottish Fair | Times Vary Encourage your family, friends and others who may be interested in the culture of Scotland to join us – Scot or not, everyone loves to hear the bagpipes, see strong men in kilts compete in athletic events unique to Scotland, hear traditional & modern Celtic music and more! This year we will also have festivities going on the Friday before the full day event.

July 20-22: Stillwater Lumberjack Days | Times Vary Fun for the whole family!

July 20-22: Highland Fest | Times Vary Highland Fest marks summer’s midpoint with a place to gather with friends and neighbors, with so many great activities there is sure to be something for everyone.  The line up for the weekend includes live music, a beer tent, the juried art fair, a petting zoo, wiener dog races, the business fair, Home Expo inflatable rides and games, the 5k road race and an exciting array of food and beverage vendors, community picnic, a meat raffle/bingo, Zumba in the park,  wine tasting, movie in the park, the bookmobile, a yoga class and the inaugural All Ford Car and Truck Show, commemorating 89 years of the Twin Cities Ford Assembly Plant in cooperation with Ford Motor Company.

July 20-22: St. George Middle Eastern Festival | Times Vary Bring the whole family! There’s something for everyone at the St. George Middle Eastern Festival, including a kids’ tent featuring mini-golf, inflatable slide, ring toss, mini-bowling, and face painting.

July 20-29: Rosemount Leprechaun Days |Times Vary Blarney Stone hunt, medallion hunt, parade, carnival, live music, food booths, chili cookoff, and fireworks.

July 21-22: Cannon Falls Wine & Art Festival11:00am-5:00pm Sip Minnesota wine and shop for art along the banks of the beautiful Cannon River for the 9th annual Cannon Falls Wine and Art Festival! We will have local wineries and cider makers you can taste and purchase from, and over 70 talented artists in attendance, along with amazing food vendors! 

July 21: Rondo Days10:00am-7:00pm  Spend the day experiencing the exhibits, music, food, and parade of Rondo Days–a celebration of the heart of St. Paul’s African American Neighborhood. Grande Parade starts at 10am and the festival usually runs from noon to 7pm. 

July 21: Bounce House Bonanza | 11:00am-4:00pm Head to Andrews Park for bounce houses, ice cream, face painters, splash pad, cotton candy, $500 coin hunt, kids entertainers, food, Champlin Rocks and more!! One $10 wrist band per child covers all the bounce houses, face painting, cotton candy, ice cream, the coin hunt and the entertainers. 

July 21: International Festival of Burnsville | 3:00- 9:00pm The International Festival of Burnsville was established in 2006 to celebrate the city’s cultural diversity. The Festival takes place at Nicollet Commons Park each summer and features a range of music and dance groups representing cultures around the globe. In addition to music, guests and their families can purchase food, admire culture displays, and engage in kid-friendly activities.

July 22: Open Streets Lake + Minnehaha | 11:00am-5:00pm Open Streets Minneapolis is a free event bringing together community groups and local businesses to temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic, opening them up for people walking, biking, rolling, and playing.

 

July 20-29: Rosemount Leprechaun Days |Times Vary Blarney Stone hunt, medallion hunt, parade, carnival, live music, food booths, chili cookoff, and fireworks.

July 25-29: Scott County Fair | Times Vary

July 26:  Will Hale & The Tadpole Parade | 10:00-11:00am At Will Hale & The Tadpole Parade shows, kids are the rock stars! They get to clap, dance and sing with Will Hale, the king of rocking air guitar. The kid tested, parent approved concerts create a fun atmosphere filled with plenty of audience participation, excitement, and energy. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

July 26-29: Crystal Frolics | Times Vary Games (there’s a dunk booth for the mayor!), carnival, live music, food booths, and fireworks make up this fun festival. The free family fest is from 11:00am-2:00pm on Sunday and will include a petting zoo, pony rides ($5), Kidsdance DJ, scavenger hunt, games, make & take crafts, free book giveaway, food, and a flag ceremony at 11:00am.

July 27-29: Chaska River City Days | Times Vary Get ready for the best weekend in Chaska with live music, a parade, carnival, inflatables, dunk tank, water wars, and more!

July 27-29: Slice of Shoreview | Times Vary The “Slice”, as it has come to be known, takes place over the last weekend of July and incorporates a wide variety of family-oriented activities including a carnival, parade, art and craft fair, food vendors, various displays and demonstrations, talent show, lots of entertainment and, of course fireworks.

July 29: Rice Street Festival | 1:00pm This will be held at Rice and Lawson fields! This event will be great for kids of all ages! There will be food trucks, pony rides, inflatables, organizations making crafts with the children and much more!

July 7, 14, 21, & 28: Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.

July 4: Excelsior Firecracker Run | 8:00am Choose from three race distances including the 1 Mile, 5K, and 10K, touring the scenic terrain of historic downtown Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka. Runners of all ages get a chance to take part in this great community event.

July 4: Red, White & Boom! TC Half Marathon and Relay | 6:30am Make your July 4th something big with the Red, White & Boom! 

July 7: Afton Trail Run | Times Vary The Afton Trail Run is one of the most challenging and beautiful trail races anywhere.  The race was established in 1994 and is now one of the oldest, largest and most competitive trail races in the country and routinely draws runners from all 50 states and beyond.  The race takes place entirely within the borders of Afton State Park.  The race(s) consists of a hilly 25K loop (two loops for the 50K), winding through the state park’s trail system. The race is held 100% off road, primarily on very runnable / not very technical single and double track trail. There are 7 long climbs per loop, rising from the river valley and down again with a good mix of rolling and flat terrain between the hills.

July 7: St. Paul Margarita Madness 5K | 3:00-8:00pm Margarita Madness 5k™ is a unique night 5K fun run focused less on speed and more on Margarita fun with friends and family. Margarita participants come from all different ages, shapes, sizes, and speeds; every participant will get Mad Margaritas ™ and have the time of their life. Whether you are an avid runner or a walk around the park walker, the 3 miles of the Margarita Madness 5k™ course will have you beaming and waiting for the next one!

July 8: The Color Run | 9:00am BOOM! POW! The Color Run Hero Tour is here! This year’s tour features an all-new Color Runner kit, epic course elements, and a super-charged Finish Festival — you don’t want to miss out!

July 14: Big 5K Race | 7:30am A fun exciting community event which includes entertainment, many fabulous prizes, and great food. This is an event for all ages- bring the entire family. You may run or walk and watch the kids run too. Got a little one who is too young to run? We have daycare for them so you can participate! The event includes a 5K Three-Team Relay (Each member runs approximately one mile), 5K run or walk, a Kids 0.05K for ages 2-5 and a Kids 1K for ages 6-12. Registration for the 5K is limited to 2,500 participants.

July 14: Night Nation Run | 5:30pm The Night Nation Run is the World’s 1st Running Music Festival an ultimate blend of a Music Festival and a Fun Run. Experience a music-filled course with Live DJs, Light Shows, Bubble Zones, Neon and Black Lights. Cross the finish line into an Epic Main Stage After Party featuring Top Headliner DJs.

July 21: Kids Duathlon: Run It. Bike it. Du it. | 9:00am Bike and run to test your endurance in this duathlon! Youth will bike two miles and run one mile along the trails of Ojibway Park. July 28: Blaine Kids Triathlon | 8:00am Come out for our Annual Blaine Kids Triathlon held at Lakeside Commons Park!
The event is held the last Saturday in July each year. The event includes swimming, biking and running. This race is not timed. Parents are encouraged to be the timekeepers for their children. 

July 28: Lift Bridge Road Race | 7:00am The Lift Bridge Road Race 10 Mile/10K/5K is based in Bayport, Minnesota. This course is mostly rural with scenic views throughout. It is based out of Lakeside Park on the banks of the St. Croix River making it not only convenient for participants but families coming to cheer you on as well with plenty to do in the park before and after the event.

July 28: Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K | 7:30am The Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K began in 2003 to save Wood LakeNature Center’s environmental education partnership with the Richfield Public Schools, which was in jeopardy due to cuts in local government aid. Both courses begin and end in Vets Park, behind the Ice Arena (636 E 66th St), cover very flat terrain, and pass through shaded residential neighborhoods, past neighborhood park, and through three natural areas: Wood Lake, Richfield Lake, and Vets Park.

Early Entry at Como Zoo July 8 & 11 | 9:00-10:00am Head to the Como Zoo for an inclusive experience designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. There will be designated quiet spaces, sensory story time, and other adjustments that will make this time sensory friendly.

Minnesota Orchestra Family Concert: Courage and Triumph July 14 | 2:00pm Join us for our first full orchestra symphonic sensory-friendly concert, an engaging and interactive experience for all ages conducted by Akiko Fujimoto and featuring guest cellist Nygel Witherspoon.

Sensory Friendly Sunday at Lebanon Hills Regional Park July 15 | 10:00-11:00am Learn about the seasons and what’s happening outdoors through books and short activities in our indoor classroom. Ages 5-0. Registration required.

DreamWorks Madagascar—A Musical Adventure  July 21 | 10:00-11:00am Come “Move it, Move it” with us this summer as Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and, of course, those uproariously plotting penguins enter our stage in the musical adventure of Madagascar. Not content to live in blissful captivity, Marty lets his curiosity takeover as he makes his escape to explore the world. His friends and some unusual penguins will not be left behind as they all embark on an unforgettable voyage.

Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | 6:00-8:00pm During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.

Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.

Sensory-Friendly Saturdays at Select Dakota County Libraries | 10:30am Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.

TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | 12:00-1:00pm Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Sensory-Friendly AMC Movies Second and Fourth Saturday of Every Month | Times Vary AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre Select Saturdays | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime. 

Pepsi Family Sundays Now-July 22 | 12:45-5:00pm Sunday is Pepsi Family Day at Canterbury Park, including family day activities like pony rides and face painting! First race 12:45m.

Music & Movies in the Park: Minneapolis Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Swing, Folk, Rock, Bluegrass, Classical and much more.  The MPRB summer concert season fills the air daily with music at five concert venues running Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Movies in the Parks series runs from early through late August.  The mobile program takes place Monday through Saturday evenings and travels to more than 30 parks throughout the summer, which includes a partnership with the Twin Cities Black Film Festival. 

Music & Movies in the Park: St Paul Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Music in the Parks is an outdoor music series taking place in Saint Paul’s beautiful parks during the summer months. All events are free unless otherwise noted. Bring along a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy a starlit night of fun with friends and family! Movies in the Parks provides a wide range of outdoor films at parks and recreation centers around Saint Paul. Movies in the Parks events are free and open to the public. Start times are approximate; movies typically begin at dusk but may start earlier or later. Some offer pre-show activities. Movies are weather dependent and subject to change without notice.  All children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cultural Performances at Centennial Lakes Now-Labor Day | Times Vary From June through August, free cultural performances are held outdoors at the Maetzold Amphitheater at Centennial Lakes Park. Movies in the Park are shown at sunset on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.

Flicks on the Bricks and Summer Concerts Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Catch a concert, see a movie or attend a great festival this summer in Burnsville! All events are free and open to the public. 

Town Green Summer Concert Series Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Free summer concert series for the whole family all summer long at Maple Grove’s Town Green bandshell.

Kangaroo Crossing @ MN Zoo Now-Labor Day | Regular Hours The Minnesota Zoo is bringing the “Land Down Under” up north this summer with an immersive walkabout experience along the Northern Trail. It will leave you feeling like you were just hiking in Australia, as you explore the multi-species habitat and see these animals up close. You literally walk through the exhibit with these outback ambassadors!

Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks Now-September 3 | 9:30am-4:00pm Be inspired by Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks, an exhibition where architecture and engineering meet creative play. Not only will you see 20 of the most astonishing skyscrapers from around the world, replicated at 1:200 scale using only LEGO bricks, you can also create your own ‘tower of tomorrow.’ We’ll have more than 200,000 loose LEGO bricks on hand in construction areas, where you can add your creations to a steadily rising futuristic metropolis inside the exhibition. In addition, the Science Museum has commissioned a local LEGO builder to create a replica of U.S. Bank Stadium made of LEGO bricks that will be on display outside of the exhibit.

Story Time Trolley in Stillwater Now-October 27 | Times Vary This event for families includes a short ride on the trolley with an author or storyteller! Your $5 registration includes a token to board the trolley, a discount for 20% off a children’s book the day of the event and a snack after your ride.

The Best Summer Ever at Minnesota Children’s Theatre July 11-29 | Times Vary This inventive and hilarious series of stories is about family, life’s surprises, and the great delight of what seem to be disasters becoming your favorite memories. From Norwegian camp, to interviewing a mosquito, to the terror of his big sister getting her driver’s license, each story transports the audience into nine-year-old Maurice’s world. You may recognize your own family, and that magical summer when life is changed, families are transformed, and the adventures are non-stop.

Tots & Trains at Minnesota Transportation Museum 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month | 10am-12pm Explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse & Museum with your little one. Check out their open play area full of train tables. Create a themed craft to take home. Cuddle up and listen to a train-themed story read by one of the museum’s passionate volunteers. Snacks for the kids and coffee for the parents are provided.

Kids at the Castle: Third Friday Playdates (American Swedish Institute) | 9:00-10:00am In the hour before the museum opens, join ASI for visual play, storytelling, music, movement and crafts inspired by ASI’s current exhibits- activities that will encourage creative minds and active hands. We are so excited for our third annual summer family event, Hanging with Heroes, on Saturday, July 21, 10am-12:30pm, at Mounds Park Academy!
