There’s always something to do in the Twin Cities! We’ve worked to help you keep your sanity by bringing these June activities all together in one easy guide so you don’t miss a thing! We’ll update with new additions as they come.

June 1: Star Party at Como Planetarium | 7:00-9:30pm Stop by anytime between 7PM and 9:30 PM to participate in hands-on activities for the young and young at heart, see a mini planetarium program, and look through a telescope (weather permitting). Our theme is the big solar eclipse coming this summer!  Learn all about what it is, why it is…and how you can view it! FREE.

June 1: Forever Wild Family Friday: Pollinators | 7:00-8:30pm Head to Lebanon Hills for family fun on the first Friday of every month with park activities and s’mores. Explore the world of pollinators, learn how your garden can help them and make seed bombs to take home. All ages. FREE.

June 1-2: Flint Hills Family Festival | Times Vary This year at the Festival, enchanting indoor performances tell the stories of mice rocketing to outer space, an adorable panda bear and her home, dancers that become the game Tetris on stage—and then invite you to join them!—and musicians that create magical moments with danceable tunes in Spanish and English. With free art-filled experiences outdoors, tickets to indoor shows at just $8 a seat, and select Pay What You Can performances on Saturday afternoon (limited availability, day of performance only), the Festival is designed for you to come bring the whole family and experience it all. 

June 1-3: Edina Art Fair | Times Vary The Edina Art Fair has grown to 250,000 visitors throughout the 3-day weekend while displaying 280 artists diverse collection of art, entertainment, kids zone, craft beer gardens, gourmet food and more. The Edina Art Fair is the first art fair of the summer and is rated one of the top 50 art festivals in the nation. The fair is held annually in the streets of 50th & France. 50th & France is the pre-eminent shopping destination in the Twin Cities; known for its luxury and lifestyle boutiques! This unique neighborhood has a reputation for bringing a lifestyle that caters to distinction – a distinction its members take pride in.

June 2: Explore Washington County Parks for FREE! | All Day All programs are free! All children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No permits required.

June 2: Hike It! National Trails Day | 10:00-11:30am Spend the morning walking beautiful, single-track, unpaved trails at Salem Hills Park. Enjoy a free gift and snack! The walk is about one mile. Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the hike. Not recommended for youth under ages 4. Wear appropriate tennis or hiking shoes. Pre-registration is recommended by Thursday, May 31. FREE.

June 2: EcoArts Fest | 10:00am-3:00pm Set overlooking the beautiful Minnesota River Valley, this free, family-friendly, zero waste event features interactive art and nature activities for all. EcoArts Fest engages kids and adults with fun activities that shed light on environmental issues through art making and show ways individuals can create change. 

June 2: St. Anthony Park Arts Festival | 10:00am-5:00pm The Saint Anthony Park Arts Festival brings together artists, musicians, art lovers, families and a supportive community. Set in a charming neighborhood of St. Paul, the arts festival is a one-day celebration of both art and a historic Carnegie branch library. Now in its 49th year, the festival continues to attract high-quality artists from across the region. Set around the picturesque library grounds and nearby shops, the festival features 70+ artists as well as a community area, plant and book sales, art activities, good food and great music. 

June 2: Waterfest at Phalen Regional Park | 11:00am-4:00pm Waterfest is an annual fun family event featuring paddling, fishing, games, boating, arts & crafts, live animals, exhibits, native plant giveaway. street sweeper on display, music, and dancing, and food trucks.

June 2: Home Depot Kids Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm Share the nostalgic pastime of car modeling with your child in our classic car hands-on workshop. Together you can build a vintage General Motors-style wooden car to put on display or take for a ride “with no particular place to go. Once your vehicle is built, your child can customize it with paint and stickers. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. Recommended Ages: 5-12. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron, and pin. FREE.

June 2-3: Farm Animals Weekend at Oliver Kelley Farm | 10:00am-5:00pm Farm animals have long been an important part of Minnesota’s agriculture. Meet animals and their offspring, watch farmers as they shear off the sheep’s wool coats, and discover how farm animals were used and cared for in the 19th century. Then meet modern-day animals in the Farm Lab Barn and discover the many ways farm animals continue to impact our lives today. Explore the use of animal products in the historic farmhouse kitchen and the visitor center’s Learning Kitchen.

June 2-8: I Love Burnsville Week | Times Vary Every June, Burnsville hosts a week-long celebration of everything that makes our community a great place to live, work, and play! Hundreds of people turn out to participate in events, meet their neighbors and have lots of food and fun. Every year brings new and exciting activities as well as perennial favorites.

June 3: Petting Zoo at Skyview Ranch | 1:00-4:00pm Skyview Ranch is a Unique Hands-on Farm Animal Experience. 
Children and adults alike enjoy feeling the different textures of the animal’s fur and feathers. They can see how soft sheep’s wool is and feel the soft fur of bunnies. Visitors are able to touch the friendly animals. Some of the animals that usually are goats, alpaca, sheep, bunnies, pot belly pig. 

June 3: Grand Old Day | Times Vary Grand Old Day is Saint Paul’s first act of summer and the place to be on the first Sunday of June. There is plenty for the entire family to do at the largest one day festival in the upper Midwest. With over 150 food vendors, family fun area, art district, and six festival gardens, this is a day you will not want to miss. Kick off the summer season with Grand Old Day!

June 7: Farm Babies and Local Libations | 6:00-9:00pm A night for adults to explore the farm! Explore sustainable agriculture in Minnesota — from what you wear to what you drink. Discuss local hops and wine grape production. Make a felted beer koozie using wool from the sheep at Gale Woods. Visit the barn and meet farm animals, including lambs, piglets, and chicks! One glass of wine from Sovereign Estate Wine included; food and local beer available for purchase.

June 7: Big Rig Rally | 4:00-7:00pm Join the city of Eagan  for a behind the scene tour and get up and close to tons of big rigs – fire trucks, police squads, mowers, plow trucks and the ever famous garbage truck. Activities will include: face painting, photo opportunities, refreshments and giveaways while supplies last! The event will be held rain or shine.

June 8: Pirates and Mermaid Brunch | 9:30am-1:30pm Don’t miss Lord Fletcher’s Pirates & Mermaids Brunch! Come in costume (optional) and enjoy face painting, balloon artists and REAL Live Pirates and Mermaids. Fun for the whole family!

June 8: Get Outdoors Day | 4:00-8:00pm Get Outdoors Day is a nationwide celebration that provides opportunities for people to get outdoors and try new activities. Hosted in collaboration between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, REI, Minnesota Department of Resources (DNR), U.S. Forest Service, Tips Outdoors, and the City of Minneapolis, this year’s Get Outdoors Day will be full of free and fun activities to try. Join a canoe paddle on Powderhorn Lake, learn to fish, play camp games, go birding, get creative with nature crafts, try your hand at archery, or try the climbing wall. There’s no wrong way to celebrate, just as long as you get outdoors! Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks. This event is free, family-friendly and open to everyone. No registration needed, just show up ready to have fun outdoors! FREE.

June 8-10: Take a Kid Fishing Weekend | 9:30-1:30am Minnesotans 16 or older who take a child 15 or younger fishing don’t need a license that weekend, and opportunities for inexperienced, beginner anglers abound throughout Minnesota. Catch some quality, family time and plan a special fishing day or weekend. There are a variety of organized fishing opportunities throughout the state during Take a Kid Fishing Weekend.

June 9: Huge Inflatables Pop Up | 10:00am-6:00pm Hosted by Jump City. Tons of inflatables and unlimited jumping in Prairie Park.

June 9: Lakefest Family Fishing Event | 10:00am-2:00pm Celebrate Eagan’s Lake Appreciation Month! Free fun for all ages, rain or shine. LakeFest features live music by the Upper Mississippi Cajun Band, giveaways, lead tackle exchange, information and activity booths from local organizations. Enjoy kid’s activities and crafts, see live creatures, talk to native plant and tree specialists, and learn about lake and water health and safety. Fishing equipment provided or bring your own, and occurs with DNR’s Take a Kid Fishing Weekend; no fishing license required for adults fishing with children. Food available for purchase. No registration required, show up and enjoy the day!

June 9: TPT Family Fun Day | 10:00am-4:00pm Enjoy a discounted unlimited ride wristband for Como Town Amusement Park, a family-friendly amusement park for kids ages 2 to 12. Enjoy more than 18 rides and attractions including all-time favorites and new, interactive rides that can’t be found anywhere else in the upper Midwest. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see a rotating cast of SUPER WHY!characters. Enjoy a free kids foam party!

June 9: Family Dance | 6:30-8:00pm Tapestry Folkdance Center is bringing back the family folkdance tradition. The focus is on simple, easy-to-learn dances that everyone can enjoy. A caller teaches dances from the British Isles and America, including group circle and longways dances and play-party (singing) games. Live music every month. Breaks will feature snacks and kid-friendly activities. All ages welcome!

June 9: Huck Finn Fishing Derby | 9:00-11:00am Set the hook into some fishing fun with our Huck Finn Fishing Derby! We’ll have fishing contests for the largest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught! Prizes are awarded for derby winners and each participant receives a fishing goodie bag. Register early, space is limited! Fee is only $5/person

June 9: MN Craft Cider Festival | 1:00-5:00pm The MN Craft Cider Festival is the only festival in the state entirely devoted to cider. Taking place at Como Lakeside Pavilion, it’s an opportunity to sample dozens of ciders from local, national, and international cideries, plus enjoy food from Spring Cafe, Red River Kitchen food truck, and Chow Girls catering, all to the backdrop of lovely Como Lake.

June 9-10: Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes | 10:00am-5:00pm Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes, presented by Minneapolis Northwest Tourism, is a free, 2-day street art festival with entertainment, food, and family fun! The Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes is featuring sidewalk chalk art by professionals, amateurs & art enthusiasts from across the world! The event will occur on June 9-10, 2018 (10-5 both days) and is located on Main Street in Arbor Lakes. The Fountains at Arbor Lakes is also to display amazing murals by our artist-in-residence, Shawn McCannand visiting artists prior to the event.

June 9-10: Duetsche Tage | Times Vary Come share heritage and celebrate community at the 60th Annual Deutsche Tage. Deutsche Tage (German Days) is held every year on the second weekend in June on the GAI’s beautiful Summit Avenue grounds. For the past 59 years, we have shared the arts, traditions, and cuisine of the German-speaking world and inspired thousands of Minnesotans to discover new aspects of their heritage

June 10: Take a Kid Fishing at Thompson County Park | 12:00-3:00pm Catch some quality time with a child in your life. Bring your own pole or borrow one of ours. There will be lots of hands-on fishing stations to practice tying knots, casting, baiting a hook and more. Recycle your lead tackle or fishing line. There will be door prizes and giveaways. Concessions and ice cream available for purchase from Buon Cibo food truck.

June 10: Open Streets Lyndale | 11:00am-5:00pm Open Streets Minneapolis is a free event bringing together community groups and local businesses to temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic, opening them up for people walking, biking, rolling, and playing.

June 12: Princesses at the Park | 6:05pm CHS Field and Pretty Princess Parties come together for classic summertime event! Tickets include your Seats to the Big Game, a Saints Hat, and our Pre-Game Activities! Guests will be invited to join us for an hour before the game begins. We will be doing songs, group games, and have lots of time for photos and hugs! This is the perfect way to make your summer special!

June 12-16: Farmington Dew Days | Times Vary Celebrate Farmington’s Dew Days with a parade, car cruise, fun run, fishing contest, medallion hunt, ribs cookoff, and bingo.

June 12: CAAM Chinese Dance Theater | 10:00-11:00am CAAM Chinese Dance Theater (CDT) is a performing arts and dance academy dedicated to preserving and celebrating Chinese cultural heritage. Every year they connect audiences to the heart of dance and the soul of China. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

June 14-16: Tater Daze Festival | Times Vary This annual festival that celebrates Brooklyn Park’s potato farming heritage includes a pickleball tournament, bingo, root beer floats, disc golf, a 5K run/walk, a pancake breakfast, fireworks, live music, a parade, and more. 

June 14-18: Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest | The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest is a four-day, family focused event that offers something for everyone.   An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people will enjoy wonderful food, fantastic bands, a carnival and much, much more!  Families and friends come to the event to be part of the community while they relax and enjoy the kick off to summer.

June 15: Family & Friends Fun Day | Times Vary This summer, bring your kids, grandkids, and friends to visit the past and experience life at the turn of the last century on our Family & Friends Fun Day, offered one Friday in June and one in July. Stroll through the museum and see horse-drawn buggies and farm machinery from the good ol’ days. With your tour guide, visit selected buildings in the village and meet the villagers, who help the children with hands-on activities. Enjoy playing vintage games, watch the blacksmith at work in his forge or the woodworker in his shop, withdraw money at the bank to spend shopping at the General Store, and more. Bring your own lunch and have a picnic on our village grounds.

June 15-16: Northern Spark | Sunset-2:00am In mid-June, tens of thousands of people gather throughout the city to explore giant video projections, play in temporary installations in the streets, and enjoy experimental performances in green spaces. Late into the night, the city surprises you: friendly crowds, glowing groups of cyclists, an unexpected path through the urban landscape, the magic of early morning after a night of amazing art and experiences.

June 15-17: Stone Arch Bridge Festival | Times Vary Minneapolis’ 3rd largest festival is a celebration of art and music located on the beautiful Mississippi River between downtown and Northeast Mpls.

June 16: Minnesota Parent’s 5th Annual Kid Fest | 10:00am-1:00pm Entertainment will include live family-friendly music from the Teddy Bear Band, The Bazillions, and Davey Doodle! ARTrageous Adventures will also be providing entertainment for the day! FREE.

June 16: Kids Night at Elko Speedway | 5:00pm Free admission and school bus rides for kids. Enjoy a night of late models, thunder cars, powers stocks, legends, and bandoleros.

June 16: Riverfront Quest Family Walking Tour | 10:30am-12:00pm Explore the Minneapolis riverfront with a family treasure hunt. Make a quest journal from 10:30-11 am and then solve rhyming riddles, search for hidden boxes and discover the stories of Minneapolis’ history along the way from 11 am to noon. The tour is designed for ages 6-11, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

June 16: Midsommar Celebration | 10:00am- 5:00pm Head to ASI to celebrate one of Sweden’s most joyous and traditional festivals – no Nordic heritage necessary! Summer is short in both Minnesota and the Nordic regions, making Midsommar one of the most festive days of the year – a time to get outside and enjoy the high-point of the season. Whether you’re a festival regular, or just curious what the holiday is all about, there is something for everyone at ASI’s popular event. Be sure to make a midsommarkrans (flower head wreath) and prepare to dance and sing around the midsommarstång (midsummer pole).

June 16: Food Truck Extravaganza | 11:00am- 7:00pm The Food Truck Extravaganza will include over 20 food trucks, a marketplace, music, a business area and kid’s activities. This family-friendly event will be a great place to pop in on a Saturday, grab some food, shop a bit and learn more about our local businesses.

 

June 17: Super Dads & Superheroes | 12:45-5:30pm This Father’s Day, give your hero what he wants: a trip to the track! Get the family together for Super Dads & Superheroes on Sunday, June 17. Your favorite superheroes will be on hand, and there will be plenty of activities for the kids.

June 19: Macy’s Play Date  | 9:00am-4:00pm Free admission to the Minnesota Children’s Museum for Macy’s cardholders from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Non-cardholders receive $2 off admission from 1p.m. – 4 p.m.

June 19: Learning Tree with the St. Paul Saints | 10:00am-12:00p The St. Paul Saints and Mackin Educational Resources, in conjunction with St. Paul Public Libraries, is bringing their Reading Tree series on the road to the Mall of America for this special Toddler Tuesday! The Saints will bring along some special guests, such as their furry pink mascot Mudonna + a local children’s book author.

June 21: Summer Solstice Party | 6:00-8:00pm Summer is here and we’re kicking things off to celebrate. Live music from the Notherly Gales Celtic quartet (get ready for a toe-tapping good time), yard games, food, and fun. FREE.

June 21: The Dollipops | 10:00-11:00am Get ready to sing, dance, and laugh with the engaging, high-energy, highly interactive new kids’ show – The Dollipops! Dolli and Pop are sisters who have traveled all the way from Sweet Tart City to bring you on a magical and musical road trip that is sure to get kids (and their parents!) moving, grooving, and making memories. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

June 21-23: Oakdale Summerfest | Times Vary Oakdale Summerfest is an annual event that happens during the month of June. Each year there is a carnival, vendors, and free concerts. Come and enjoy a relaxing festival with us.

June 21-23: Earle Brown Days | Times Vary From a petting zoo to kids’ crafts to inflatables, face painting, magic show and fireworks, there is so much to do and see at this event!

June 21-23: Twin Cities Jazz Festival | Times Vary The Twin Cities Jazz Festival is probably one of the most fun and coolest events in the Twin Cities! The festival is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) free outdoor event open to all.   The main stage along with several outdoor stages are located in and around Mears Park in the Lowertown neighborhood of downtown St. Paul, MN.  Over 20 St. Paul venues partner with the festival hosting jazz all weekend long.   As part of the festival mission, over 100 youth perform at the festival.   Our national headliners lead masterclasses/clinics to students that are free and open to all.

June 21-24: Dan Patch Days | Times Vary Dan Patch Days is back and bigger and better than ever in 2018. Great live music, delicious food, and of course lots of activities for both adults and kids to take part in. Minnesota Wing King is excited to be back for a 6th consecutive year with all of their staples as well as a few new delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy (Hint… one new dish may have to do with delicious Poutine). Friday Night Arch Allies will be playing. Saturday, the main act will be The 70’s Magic Sunshine Band. Stop on down and enjoy the festivities at this amazing community event.

June 21-25: Rosefest | Times Vary Rosefest celebrates the community traditions of health and wellness, arts and entertainment, fun and fresh air for people of all ages. There are Rosefest events for everyone, including the annual Rose Parade and culminating with the Party in the Park on the 4th of July. There are events for those who like to be active and events for those who like to watch. There are events for adults, events for kids and events for the whole family. There are events to learn, but especially there are events to just plain ol’ have fun!

June 22-24: Blaine Festival | Times Vary The Blaine Festival is an annual community celebration with weekend-long events for the whole family, showcasing a wide variety of entertainment with something for everyone.

June 23: Minnetonka Summer Fest | 4:00-10:45pm Celebrate summer in Minnetonka with a tot trot, train rides, zip lines, sports challenges, petting zoo, pony rides, police and fire department demonstrations, live music featuring Koo Koo Kangaroo and the Casablanca Orchestra, and fireworks.

June 23-24: Eagan Art Festival | Times Vary A juried art show of 100 artists, this free art festival is one of the premier events offered south of the river! The theme for the 24th Eagan Art Festival is Art & Nature.  The festival will highlight some of the artists that use nature in their work. Artists on-site will also be able to talk to visitors about how nature informs the work that they do. The Children’s Activity Tent and Art Experience Tent Community Project will have a nature theme.

June 23-24: Wayzata Art Experience | Times Vary Come to this family-friendly art fair with food and great music in downtown Wayzata! Perfect for the whole family.

June 27-July 4: Apple Valley Freedom Days | Times Vary Check out the daily events leading up to the 4th of July! There will be a car show, fishing derby, fun run, golfing, patriotic pet contests, parade, music in the park, a carnival, and of course the city’s big fireworks show!

June 28: TPT at Ticket to the Twin Cities | 3:00-8:00pm Join TPT and Clifford at Tickets for Kids Charities at CHS Field for a kid-friendly good time featuring games, activities, food, and fun for the whole family. Celebrate Tickets for Kids’ mission to provide at-risk children with experiences that inspire hope, dreams, and achievements for a lifetime and meet many of our generous partners. Free and open to the public. Free food and snacks. Free transportation provided by Metro Transit. Free family-friendly activities provided by PNC Bank Mobile Learning Lab, Minnesota Twins, Bollywood Dance Scene, Minnesota Timberwolves, and many more!

June 28: Tuey Wilson Comedic Juggler | 10:00-11:00am Comic stunt juggler Tuey Wilson’s personality on stage is an unlikely blend of “regular guy” and “quirky oddball,” which means everyone can relate to his charm and humor. Tuey’s show is a perfect blend of family-friendly comedy, jaw-dropping skills, and danger. Free entertainment, face painting, and giveaways (while supplies last). Rosedale Center east court.

June 29: Svenskarnas Dag  | 11:00am-9:00pm Start out the day with the Midsommar Loppet 5k, then join us for a Swedish church service, dancing around the Midsummer Pole, Scandinavian foods and handicrafts, music and dance groups from the Midwest, Sweden, and Norway, and the crowning of the 2019 Royalty family.

June 29: Happy Birthday America Parade | 10:30-11:30am This long-standing tradition invites kids to decorate their wagons, trikes, and bicycles in red, white and blue as the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department marches through local streets in honor of America’s birthday. Entertainment and refreshing Popsicles follow.

June 29: Uptown Food Truck Festival | 11:00am-9:00pm One of the Twin Cities most popular & delicious free events – The Uptown Food Truck Festival– invade Lake & Hennepin on Sunday, June 24th. FREE.

June 29: International Mud Day | 3:00-5:00pm Head to the Handke Family Center for a day of splashing, rolling, squishing, sliding and making mud pies in our mud kitchen. Bring a swimsuit, towel and a change of clothes, and plan to get muddy! Rain or shine! Free event, but please pre-register. The event is geared to birth-kindergarten entry but all are welcomed!

June 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30: Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.

June 2: Girls on the Run Twin Cities 5K | 9:00am-12:00pm The Alerus Mortgage Girls on the Run 5K is the culmination and celebration of ten weeks of training to cross the finish line while also building life skills, new friendships, and a community service project along the way. Join us as a runner or volunteer, this inspirational event is open to the public (including men/women/kids)!

June 3: Hope in Motion 5K & Family Walk | 9:00am Celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day at the Fifth Annual Hope in Motion 5K & 1-Mile Family Walk! Hope in Motion is Minnesota’s National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration, including a 5K Run/Walk, a 1-Mile Family Walk, a Kids Dash, wellness activities, entertainment, speakers, and more. Proceeds will benefit Angel Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides support and programs for cancer survivors and their families. 

June 3: Downtown Run Around with Mile in My Shoes | 8:30am Join us for the 2nd Annual Downtown Run Around 5K with Mile in My Shoes!  Mile in My Shoes is dedicated to “running together to change perceptions and to change lives”. We do this by bringing together residents of local homeless shelters & halfway houses with local runner volunteers, who train together 2-3 times a week.

June 8-9: Spartan Race | Times Vary Spartans are taking over the Welch Village Ski Resort in Welch, Minnesota — located less than an hour outside the Twin Cities. This Spartan Sprint, covering 3-5 miles, promises to test racers with a good mixture of 20+ obstacles, challenging ski slopes and hills, and no shortage of early morning fog, mud, water, and wind. Make no mistake, even the bunny hills become quad-searing challenges. The converted ski resort plays well into creating a tough course with wide pathways that allow Spartans to separate from the crowd as they sprint from obstacle to obstacle. Don’t miss out on the chance to take Welch Village’s natural beauty adorned with towering pine trees and rolling hills.

June 9: Walk for Amazing | 7:30-11:30am Honor the kids in your life at Walk for Amazing, the newest event benefiting Children’s Minnesota. On Saturday, June 9 we’ll rally together inside U.S. Bank Stadium for a ceremonial walk, family-friendly activities—climbing wall, yard games, face-painting, live music from Koo Koo Kanga Roo and more! If you haven’t experienced U.S. Bank Stadium yet, get ready to be wowed. It’s spectacular. And it’s accessible and ADA compliant so the whole family can be part of the action. Wheelchairs and strollers welcome.

June 13: French 5KM Trail Race | 6:30pm Remember when you were young and the summer days were hot, relaxing and seemingly endless?  Well, as adults we still get that but usually only on weekends and holidays… until now.  The Endless Summer Trail Run Series is the brain-child of two passionate Minnesota trail-running main-stays – Rocksteady Running and Twin Cities Running Company.  The series was created to provide low-key, low-pressure trail running/racing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and levels of experience. Whether you are a seasoned trail or road racer, first-time trail-racer, need a tune-up for your next race, need to get in some speed-work or just want to have some pizza, pop, and beer with us at the finish – running one or all of the races in the series is for you.  The Endless Summer Trail Run Series has garnered a strong local following and has gotten significant national media coverage as one of the best organized and most well-attended trails running series in the country!

June 15: Manitou Days 5K | 4:30-6:15pm This race has a wonderful old time feel.  The race course follows the Manitou Days parade route.  With thousands cheering you on as you run through downtown White Bear Lake you can’t help but feel like a rock star!

June 16: Women of Nations 5K Walk/Run | 8:00am The Women of Nations 5K 2018 event is for all ages, runners, walkers, and dogs! Join the Women of Nations team as we raise funds that will directly benefit women and children who have suffered trauma from domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or human trafficking. Women of Nations runs the Eagle’s Nest Shelter, an emergency shelter in St. Paul that provided safe shelter and support services to over 550 women and 350 children in 2017. 

June 17: Gridiron Gallop | 7:30am Register now for Greenway’s Gridiron Gallop 5K Run/Walk or Kids Run and do something healthy and fun with or in memory of Dad on Father’s Day. The Gridiron Gallop, hosted by Chad and Jenni Greenway, features Minnesota Vikings player and cheerleader appearances with autograph opportunities for registered runners.

June 30: Warrior Dash | 8:00am Takedown 12 world-class obstacles and test your strength against the muddiest obstacles around. Venture through mud-caked backroads and uneven terrain as you race over three miles to the finish line. Enjoy the live DJ, beer, grub, and warrior games all day long – before and after your race.

June 30: Wanderlust 108 Twin Cities | 7:30am Wanderlust 108—The World’s Only Mindful Triathlon—brings the community together for a 5K run/walk, a DJ-powered yoga session, and guided meditation in your local park. Following the triathlon, you can choose your own mindful adventure by enjoying bonus activities, perusing our Kula Market of local artisans, and stopping by Wanderlust’s True North Cafe for a healthy snack or lunch. From dancing with DJs on the main stage to trying something new like hooping and acroyoga, there’s plenty to do when you’re not on your mat. Nationally recognized teachers, speakers, and musical talent are featured at each event to make for a fun-filled day.

Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax at Minnesota Children’s Theatre June 8 | 7:00pm The silky soft tufts of the Truffula Trees are the perfect stuffs to knit the perfect Thneeds. But the first chop, chop of the perilous ax, begins the powerful tale of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax. When the last tree of the forest falls, was it worth losing paradise for nothing at all? The most beloved environmental tale of all time, The Lorax will have you singing in Seussian rhyme!

Early Entry at Como Zoo June 10 & 13 | 9:00-10:00am Head to the Como Zoo for an inclusive experience designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. There will be designated quiet spaces, sensory story time, and other adjustments that will make this time sensory friendly.

Sensory-Friendly Hour at Battle Creek Waterworks June 18 | 11:00am-1:00pm Sensory-friendly hours will offer earplugs, goggles and masks, and a quiet place with fidget spinners and other toys. Discounted admission.

Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | 6:00-8:00pm During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.

Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.

Sensory-Friendly Saturdays at Select Dakota County Libraries | 10:30am Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.

TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | 12:00-1:00pm Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Sensory-Friendly AMC Movies Second and Fourth Saturday of Every Month | Times Vary AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre Select Saturdays | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime. 

Music & Movies in the Park: Minneapolis Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Swing, Folk, Rock, Bluegrass, Classical and much more.  The MPRB summer concert season fills the air daily with music at five concert venues running Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Movies in the Parks series runs from early through late August.  The mobile program takes place Monday through Saturday evenings and travels to more than 30 parks throughout the summer, which includes a partnership with the Twin Cities Black Film Festival. 

Music & Movies in the Park: St Paul Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Music in the Parks is an outdoor music series taking place in Saint Paul’s beautiful parks during the summer months. All events are free unless otherwise noted. Bring along a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy a starlit night of fun with friends and family! Movies in the Parks provides a wide range of outdoor films at parks and recreation centers around Saint Paul. Movies in the Parks events are free and open to the public. Start times are approximate; movies typically begin at dusk but may start earlier or later. Some offer pre-show activities. Movies are weather dependent and subject to change without notice.  All children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cultural Performances at Centennial Lakes Now-Labor Day | Times Vary From June through August, free cultural performances are held outdoors at the Maetzold Amphitheater at Centennial Lakes Park. Movies in the Park are shown at sunset on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.

Flicks on the Bricks and Summer Concerts Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Catch a concert, see a movie or attend a great festival this summer in Burnsville! All events are free and open to the public. 

Town Green Summer Concert Series Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Free summer concert series for the whole family all summer long at Maple Grove’s Town Green bandshell.

Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks Now-September 3 | 9:30am-4:00pm Be inspired by Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks, an exhibition where architecture and engineering meet creative play. Not only will you see 20 of the most astonishing skyscrapers from around the world, replicated at 1:200 scale using only LEGO bricks, you can also create your own ‘tower of tomorrow.’ We’ll have more than 200,000 loose LEGO bricks on hand in construction areas, where you can add your creations to a steadily rising futuristic metropolis inside the exhibition. In addition, the Science Museum has commissioned a local LEGO builder to create a replica of U.S. Bank Stadium made of LEGO bricks that will be on display outside of the exhibit.

DreamWorks Madagascar—A Musical Adventure  June 29-August 5 | Times Vary Come “Move it, Move it” with us this summer as Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and, of course, those uproariously plotting penguins enter our stage in the musical adventure of Madagascar. Not content to live in blissful captivity, Marty lets his curiosity takeover as he makes his escape to explore the world. His friends and some unusual penguins will not be left behind as they all embark on an unforgettable voyage.

Toddler Tuesdays at MOA Tuesdays | 10am-Noon Toddler Tuesdays is a program that provides events, free entertainment, and discounts, especially for toddlers. Events include special character appearances, arts and crafts, story time and much more! FREE.

Storytime with Engineer Paul at Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store Tuesdays | 10:00am Engineer Paul hosts a storytime full of songs and smiles. Afterward, enjoy the morning exploring and playing with the various train sets and tables at this fun train store. FREE.

Tots & Trains at Minnesota Transportation Museum 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month | 10am-12pm Explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse & Museum with your little one. Check out their open play area full of train tables. Create a themed craft to take home. Cuddle up and listen to a train-themed story read by one of the museum’s passionate volunteers. Snacks for the kids and coffee for the parents are provided.

Kids at the Castle: Third Friday Playdates (American Swedish Institute) In the hour before the museum opens, join ASI for visual play, storytelling, music, movement and crafts inspired by ASI’s current exhibits- activities that will encourage creative minds and active hands. Recommended for ages 2-5. $5 per family. Registration not required; check in at the Information Desk by 11 a.m. on the day of the program. Adult accompaniment required.

Free First Saturdays at Walker Art Center 1st Saturday of every month | 10:00am-3:00pm Free First Saturdays feature free gallery admission on the first Saturday of every month, plus performances, games, art-making, and kid’s films from 10 am to 3 pm. Family friendly food options are available or bring something from home to snack on in the lounge or in the garden.
